I guess I should use the (-rc1) extention name on the name of the kernel? Not especially. linux-2.6.6-rc1 can be read as Linux kernel, version 2.6.6, Release candidate 1 The -rc1 is to signify that this is not a final release but a possible release (depending on how many bugs are found). 2.
